Early life
Tom Hardy was born as Edward Thomas Hardy on September 15, 1977 in Hammersmith, London, England. The only child of comedy writer and novelist Edward Hardy and artist and mother Anne, Tom Hardy suffered from alcoholism, drug addiction and delinquency during his adolescence and early life.

Despite his demons, Hardy continued to perform at the Drama School in Richmond and at the prestigious Drama Center London. His intense commitment honed Hardy's acting skills. Television and film success
Tom Hardy came to the public in 2001 with his first role in the acclaimed miniseries Band Of Brothers on HBO. That same year, he acted in the successful war movie Black Hawk Down, playing a soldier left behind. Personal life
Hardy has a son, son Louis Thomas Hardy (born April 8, 2008), with his ex-girlfriend Rachel Speed. In 1999, he married Sarah Ward; The couple separated in 2004.
