SUI DHAAGA
SUI DHAAGA: MADE IN INDIA MOVIE REVIEW
Rating of the critic:
3.5 / 5
Crop for entertainment
History of Sui Dhaaga: Assaulted by his wife Mamta (Anushka Sharma), Mauji (Varun Dhawan) decides to get rid of his demanding bosses for his own tailoring business. But in the midst of pessimists, unscrupulous relatives and lack of support, does your dream of becoming an entrepreneur come true?
Sui Dhaaga Review: "Sab badhiya hai" is Mauji's answer to the daily struggles for a mediocre existence. In them, it is heavy work for daily work, bosses who use it to run errands and personal entertainment, a resentful father, a sick mother and a marriage without romance. His wife does not have time for love between domestic chores. After a very realistic confrontational scene with his bosses, Mauji stops to start something of his own. Sui Dhaaga is full of simple daily conflicts and solutions that are perfectly intertwined in the narrative.
The movie revolves around a handful of characters. While Varun Dhawan offers an honest performance, almost never exaggerating, Anushka Sharma's restriction is easy. She lives the character, dressed in a simple sari, sport sindoor and minimal makeup. All in all, their romance is underestimated to the point of being non-existent, but that does not take away your partner as a couple as you fight against probabilities in life. Among the supporting actors, Raghubir Yadav is a cynical father, mocking his son with sarcastic phrases that will often make you laugh. But the actor to consider is Yamini Dass, who plays Mauji's mother. She justifies every moment of her screen time. She is adorable even when she hands out the daily tasks to her bahu from the hospital bed.
Director Sharat Katariya takes some cinematographic freedoms, but there are enough real moments to move him. In a winning first half, he successfully establishes his main characters and their problems. The intelligent use of humor in dialogues increases the entertainment quotient, even when things get difficult for the characters. The songs of the film and the background score give gravity to the story. While the narrative does not become too prosaic or predictable, the second half is simply convenient. In addition, although Mauji's struggle for self-employment finds widespread mention, there is not much to justify his excellence in the trade, except his failed legacy.
However, these are minor patches in the overall structure of the movie that is cut for entertainment. Sui Dhaaga is sewn with strong performances and moments that tell a compelling story.
